For the 2026 NBA Finals Legacy Project, Mike was brought in to execute hand-painted branded artwork throughout the newly renovated Denver Heights Community Center.

The work included official NBA, San Antonio Spurs, Spurs Give, NBA Cares and project-partner marks integrated directly into the architecture. The job required the precision of brand execution at mural scale — clean edges, accurate proportions and consistent finishes across multiple spaces.

Rather than designing the entire Legacy Project, Mike’s responsibility was focused and specific: translate official identities into durable, hand-painted environmental graphics that felt permanent within the renovated community center.

Official logos leave very little room for interpretation. Every mark had to read correctly from a distance while still holding up at close range. Mike translated vector-based identities into painted surfaces by hand, balancing exact brand standards with the realities of masonry, wall texture and architectural scale.

Environmental Graphics

The branding extends beyond individual logos. Color bands, court graphics and lounge signage connect the gym and multipurpose areas, giving the renovation a consistent visual language tied to basketball, San Antonio and the community.

The renovation was unveiled during the 2026 NBA Finals with the NBA, Spurs and Emirates, bringing players, league leadership, local youth and community partners together at Denver Heights.

For Mike, the project connected professional sports branding with the kind of public-facing neighborhood space that his work has always been built around: art and design that people encounter as part of everyday life.
