The Story

From base
to butterflies.

The La Picosa murals connect Brooks' aerospace history with imagery of growth and renewal — moving from flight and research toward butterflies, flowers and transformation.

Created by San Antonio artists Mike Comp and BëkiT, the works reference Brooks' evolution from military post and Air Force Base to a contemporary mixed-use community. SAM nods to early aerospace research while butterflies carry the theme of growth through the site.
